In older times the festival of Spring Equinox, Ostara, in honor of Eostre, maiden Goddess of Spring fertility celebrated the spirit of the dawning year, new growth, fresh beginnings, renewal and rebirth.

It is a celebration of fertility and abundance. The renewal of the cycle of harvest and abundance. In old Europe and in many pagan cultures around the world, a beautiful ritual took place during the celebration this time of year know as the sacred marriage (or heiros gamos).
